The Process Before The Promotion

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

A lot of Great things happened for me in the last year, But I want to tell yall about the mud stories. The tears, the frustrations, the failures, the insecurities, and the fears. They are the important pieces that were necessary for the level up. It is also important that you give people the mud stories so that they can understand it was a process to get to your current position or situation.

We see it everyday! Especially on sicoal media outlets. We frequently see the "GLORY STORIES" . You know the I just gradauted with my degree, Just moved into my apartment, just purchased a home, I got a job in my career field, I started my own business, I made 50k In sales this month. Those are what I like to call glory stories. I think its inspiring for people to share these things and they should be very proud of their acomplishments, but what I am more interested in is how did you get there?

We all have dreams and ambitions that we want to see come into fruition. We all want better in many areas of our lives, but lets face it just because we want something dosent mean we have the knowledge, the skill set, the discipline, the confidence, the finances, the mental health, the prayer life or the faith to get it. Sometimes we see the glory stories so often that we dont realize that the success you see someone experiencing now is a result of them being broke, being lonely, having low self estem, crying themselves to sleep, being depressed and faithless in a previous season. All of those things were probably their reality for years until they found healthy ways to over come those obstacles.

There is a strenghth within all of us to overcome our current circumstances. you just have to be aware of the how. I will share with you some of the "how's" I've learned throughout my process. First, you are not the only one going through what you are going through. There are so many other people who share your exact experiences, but you will never know because you don't talk about what bothers you out loud!!! in the right enviorements. Second, What healthy outlets have you created for yourself to release the things you hold on to? By things I mean anger, pain, hurt, dissapointment, rejection, loneliness, insecurities just to name a few. How are you challenging yourself to work through these things or are you just supressing them with pointless interactions with people, over indulging in unhealthy foods, abusing drugs and alcohol, or worst using phyical intimacy to mask what you should really be dealing with? This is important. Lastly Have you talked to God about it? Im telling you, this is a game changer.

Look, your accomplishments should be celebrated, acknowledged and valued, but your process, your mud stories are just as important. There are people waiting on you to share your story to help them with something you already overcame. There are people waiting on you to share your low moments, your mistakes and your pain, because they need to know they are not the only ones who've dealt with the issues they're facing now. Imagine how it would have helped you if someone shared their Mud Stories and their Glory stories. I guess im just an advocate for " Being what you needed".
